After four straight defeats and confidence at ground level, it really required a loin hearted effort on part of Royals to turn around the things and they did exactly that. Royals suffered a huge blow with the loss of the top run scorer of the tournament Rahane very early in piece. Rahane has the man for the Royals in the tournament to give the good starts with captain Dravid. Watson the important man for the Royals because of his all-round ability, he also has seemed to bring the balance to the side today like Azhar did to Kings XI with his all-round ability. Watson struggled in his first game of season but today he looked in complete control. After getting his eye in on the pitch which offered bit of pace and bounce, he pulled out his trade straight drives. He really got into Awana in a big way by driving him belligerently down the ground. He was all set for a really big one but unfortunately he missed out after getting his eye in. In bowling, he set the tone by picking up early wicket of opener Mandeep by a good bumper which was too quick for the youngster to pull. He enjoyed bowling on the surface which has something to offer to pacers, so often in India you get the wickets which are very low and slow but this wicket in PCA is different. It has quite some pace and bounce in it, Watson used this pace and bounce to good effect. He was the perfect foil for someone like Tait which extra pace and tear away sort of bowler. Once the tone was set the run rate shoot up which brought wickets to Royals, Kings XI was never in the contention to chase down the Royals’ total. Watson’s come back has really strengthened up the Royals.
