BW Hilfenhaus seam bowling deflated the Royals batsmen today in a closely fought match. Though the rain interruptions on the pitch was a bit frustrating for the Royals batsmen right from the first ball of the match, the credit for win should be for CSK opening bowlers.  Big names of Royals such as Dravid, Rahane, Watson could not handle the disciplined attack of Visitors team.

The Australian Hilfenhaus finished with 2 wickets while giving away eight runs in his allotted four overs. Captain Dravid and last match royal hero Watson were the prized scalps of today’s man of match.  Dravid was caught by Hussey at mid off in the fifth ball of first over bowled by the Australian. It was not an ideal shot from a player of dravid class. But probably the captain wanted to accelerate the run rate and was not able to play his comfortable shots. Australian first over was a maiden wicket over.

Dravid departure bought last match Man of the Match Watson to the crease. But both Rahane and Watson experience and form was being seriously tested by both the openers. Morkel was being hit for occasional boundaries but Hilfenhaus was not leaving any room for shots. He was disciplines and used his seam well on Sawai Mansingh Stadium pitch.

Frustration was visible on the Royals batsmen. The score was reading 25/1 at the end of five overs. Boundaries were drying and runs were not coming. Watson tried to hit the fourth ball of sixth over, but it could not connect well. There was a outside edge and ashwin standing at third man dived to hold on the catch. An excellent catch and well deserved second wicket for the Australian.

The opening spell and two important wickets built the pressure on Rajasthan team. The home team could manage only 126. Thanks to brilliant figures and effort of Hilfenhaus at the beginning of game.  Just for a second, I was thinking if today’s man of the match award could have been given to Morkel and Srikanth. But Hilfenhaus was definitely a good choice for today’s match, as he laid the foundation upon which other Chennai players added up.
