Gayle exploded with a quick fire 57 runs to fire up the rain affected Pune-Bangalore match at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium. In a match where Bangalore had to win to remain in contention, Virat kohli men outclassed the home team in all departments.

The war for a win was led by West Indies player Chris Gayle. Opening the innings for Bangalore team, gayle started his innings cautiously against the debutant Pune bowler Upadhyay's. Probably he was trying to gaze the pace. But in the second over bowled by Upadhyay's to Gayle, the West indies batsmen did what he does the best. Hit hit.

Gayle played 31 balls and 13 balls were dots. His score of 57 runs was flooded with six sixes and three fours. In his innings he ran for only 9 balls while others run were got in big hits.  Pune bowlers had no answer for Gayle attack.  The fielders had no chance to save the runs.

The hard hitting batsmen biggest victim today was Bhuveneshwar Kumar. He was hit for four sixes in a single over and in the process completing a quick century.  When Mathews was introduced by Smith for the attack, Gayle could not open up. He could manage only one run with his bat in 7th over. A big achievement for Gayle because he had hit four sixes in previous over.

But in the 9th over, when Mathews was bowling his second over, gayle mistimed the ball and gave an easy catch to Pandey at the fence. A big relief for the opposition camp but Gayle had done the damage already. His performance was rewarded with a Man of Match. This was gayle 11th man of match award. Gayle perfect timing with the ball this season has helped the Bangalore team a lot. He is a big asset for Bangalore team and his power hitting can remove the steam out of any opposition.
