The Australian David Hussey played a captain's knock to chase a big score set by Deccan Chargers. Though Gurkeerat Singh steal the show from Hussey in final over, Hussey unbeaten 65 of 35 balls ensured that the home team was always near the mark.

Needing a win at any cost to still remain in contention, the stand in Captain lost the toss but not the vision for win.  Needing 191 run to win, Punjab team were reduced to 56 for three by eight over. But David Hussey along with Gurkeerat lead a fightback to beat Deccan chargers by four wickets.

Hussey knock had four boundaries and fives sixes bettering the innings of opposition camp players Shikhar Dhawan and Cameron White. What made Hussey innings special was that his knock was under pressure situation when Punjab needed more than 100 runs in last 10 over’s and the big four were back in the dressing room without doing their job.

With a must win situation, Hussey attacked the Deccan Chargers bowlers with flurry of fours and sixes to take the game away from the visitors. The last over was more crucial for the captain as he was on the crease with another youngster Gurkeerat and Punjab needed 16 runs to keep their hopes alive. But the captain could manage only three runs in the first two balls. The captain trust on the youngster with some prep talks helped Gurkeerat to pull out a win in a nail biting finish.

With today’s win, Punjab has won seven games and they have three matches coming against strong IPL teams. Hussey knock kept his teams hopes alive in the Indian Premier League. Hussey and Gilchrist need to focus on improving fielding and bowling. White scored 30 odd runs after he got two lifelines. Hussey was awarded the Man of the Match award for his good knock. But still lot of work needs to be done for the Punjab team and Hussey contribution on field is very important for Punjab boys.

Can't say enough about how important David Hussey has been as captain of this team in place of Adam Gilchrist
