Mumbai thrash Rajasthan by 10 wickets in last match

In the last league match of IPL 2012, the visitor Mumbai Indians thrashed the Rajasthan royals by 10 wickets. Set 162 to win, the Mumbai Indians opening pair of sachin tendulkar and Dwayne smith comfortably got all the runs with 11 balls remaining.

Before the beginning of this match , Mumbai Indians came to know that they will clashing against chennai super kings in the eliminator stage. Though this match result had no consequences royals put up a lack luster performance in front of their home crowd. Especially their fielding was completely bad, as they left so many choices. Probably royals should take a note from Deccan chargers who though out of tournament, put up a good show. They knocked out royals and then Bangalore team.

But credit should also be given to tendulkar and smith for utilizing all the lifelines efficiently to register a comfortable win. As the Mumbai began their chase, no body expected this match to be one sided. But royals gave away this match to visitors due to poor fielding and another 15 odd extras. In between both the batsmen were playing big shots.

Smith smashed ten boundaries and three sixes in his 58 ball 87 runs. He was supported on the other side by tendulkar with 6 boundaries scoring 58 runs in 51 balls. Earlier after loosing the toss, Mumbai debutant bowler got the prized wicket of Rahane and dravid within first six overs. Watson and binny tried to regroup but after their departure, Mumbai bowlers lost their momentum. Shah and menaria utilized the opportunity and propelled the teams score to a respectable 162.



Rajasthan are signing off the IPL 2012 with a big losd agrer starting the season well under the new captain. Dravid will be out of action and he hopefully returns next year.As today's match ended all IPL league matches ended. There were two new IPL records. The highest stand by opening pair and 10 wicket win. The win was a good practice for Mumbai Indians before third rlination match with chennai. Now the focus of IPL shifts from nine teams to four teams.
