Murali Vijay Century Sets up Chennai March into the finals

The Chennai boy Murali Vijay came out with good performance with a bat to help his team move into the finals of IPL 5. After lying low for most of this season, today it was the turn of Vijay to turn the tables on the opposition. In a way what also helped Vijay and his team mates was the depleted opposition bowling attack.

Right from the first ball Vijay made his intentions clear when he hit the first ball from debutant spinner to the boundary. Even the second ball was driven to the long off boundary. Vijay opening partner Hussey rotated the strike well to give chance to his explosive partner. In the sixth over, Vijay hit Delhi bowler Aaron for three fours. By the time Hussey got out (first Chennai wicket) in 9th over, the host team had managed 68 runs.

Vijay got his half century in 28 balls with ten boundaries. Chennai looked all set for a big score but it needed the presence of players like Vijay, Dhoni and Bravo to fire.  After the end of ten over’s, Chennai had managed 83 runs for the loss of one wicket and Vijay was still firing with the bat. Then Delhi captain decided to bowl. But he was well treated by Vijay.

The first ball of Sehwag was hit over the fence. Taylor took a brilliant catch but stepped on the rope hence it was a six. In the second ball vijay could not manage any r uns. Third ball was hit to the backward point boundary. The fourth ball was well placed at the long on boundary. Fifth ball was hit over the fence to the sixth. Delhi captain had given away 21 runs in his single over that he bowled in today’s innings. Expensive over compared to what captain should have done.

Vijay adapted himself well today in his matches. He favors leg side but he lofted balls on the off side too.  Today Vijay was literally unstoppable. Other batsmen came, performed and then went away. But Vijay stayed till the last ball and scored 113 runs in 58 balls. Vijay century had fifteen boundaries and four six. Today performance in a crucial match, reiterated Vijay class. On a wicket which was becoming slower and slower, Vijay innings completely put the pressure on the opposition. The delhi batsmen crumbled under the pressure and could never rose to the occasion for chasing 200+ runs. Well done Vijay and hope to see more such innings from you.
