Rahane is the unanimous choice for man of the match in Match 18 of IPL 5. The first match of today was a close match but the second match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals was a one sided match. All the credit goes to superb century by Rahane which set the base for huge total at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
Opening the innings with captain Dravid, Rahane heroics with the bat propelled him to set up the first century in IPL5. He missed the century earlier in his first match of Rajasthan. Along with Owasis Shah, Rahane accelerated the scoreboard for Rajasthan team. The home team bowling attack had big names like Daniel Vettori, Muttiah Muralitharan and Zaheer Khan. But the introduction of left arm seamer, S Aravind in today’s game proved costly for the Bangalore team.
Rahane hit at backward point twice for 2 fours in Aravind first over making his intentions clear. In the next over, Zaheer was able to keep Rahane quiet by bowling a maiden over. But Rahane knew whom to hit and his victim was S Aravind. The 4th over gave Rajasthan team 15 runs. In the 14th Over, poor Aravind had no answers. Whatever he tried, Rahane placed them well. All the 6 balls were well placed and Rahane set up a NEW IPL Record of ‘6 fours in 6 balls’. No fielders could stop it. Vettori must have been clueless.
Having conceded 48 off three over’s, S aravind today’s match will be memorable for him. The economical over’s by Zaheer, Vettori proved futile. The 28 years old Seamer, Aravind, has to learn a lot from his senior colleagues in the nets. Rahane unbeaten stand of 103 in 60 balls with 6 sixes and 12 fours was mesmerizing. Supported by Shah 60 of 26 balls, the duo added 120+ runs for the second wicket. Rahane is definitely a good prospect for the Indian team in all formats of game. Wish him all the best of remaining season of IPL 5.
