Dravid pulled out a surprise for every one by starting with left arm spinner Chavan on wicket which offered quite a bit for the pacers. Straight away Watson took the advantage of extra bounce by bumping out impressive Mandeep Singh. Tait started off quite well by bowling with pace and hitting the good lengths at the same time. Marsh broke the shackles by two boundaries off a Watson over. Run rate was quite under the control of Royals as boundaries were dried up in power play. Saini's awkward stay at the wicket was over by easy loopy caught and bowled by Tait. Straight away in his first outing Tait showed what a huge mistake Royals made by introducing him so late in the tournament. After uneasy period against the pace of Tait in power play, Shaun Marsh cut lose against the left arm spinner Chavan. 18 came as a result of Marsh's assault against Chavan. Shaky Hussey found it difficult to manage the extra movement and bounce. He was another one of those who fell prey to extra bounce. Botha cleaned up Marsh with a beauty, it really was decisive below. Only Azhar's brilliance could have averted a Royals' win from there onwards. It was a big ask for the Kings XI with 113 required in last 10 overs and not much to follow in batting order. A miracle sort of batting effort was required from Azhar for Kings XI to pull out a win after getting so deep in the h*** after losing quick wickets. Dravid tried to get Mahmood out the way by introducing Tait into the attack. Very early in the piece King XI seemed to be out of race against Royals total. The boundaries were missing from the innings which slowly but surely was ensuring life out the game for Kings XI. All the remaining hopes of Kings XI died with the demise of Mahmood. Mahmood missed the slow ball all together of Binny. Gurkeerat found it really difficult to get the quick runs. It was all formalities once the wicket of Mahmood fell. Struggling Gurkeerat got something smile about with two boundaries of Botha but these smiles did not last long. Botha deceived him the air to take an easy himself. Watson and Tait picked up some easy wickets when tail enders were swing to get some boundaries. Royals finished off the innings clinically. It was really loin hearted effort from down and out Royals. The credit has to be given to Royals for such superb effort when they were down and out.
dravid return next year is doubtful. but royals management have to work out a strategy
