David Warner played one of the most impressive innings of the tournament blasting 109 and guiding the Delhi Daredevils to an easy victory over the Deccan Chargers. There is something not quite aesthetically pleasing about Warner’s batting style, but he has made himself into a pretty effective player. He and Virender Sehwag formed an incredible opening partnership in IPL 4, and early signs are that Warner could be in the sort of form to do that again.
A big, heavy hitting start to an innings will be just what the Daredevils need, especially in the big games when they are in the playoffs. The effortless nature of Warner’s innings and his ability to hit medium pace bowling easily off of a line and length showed just how much of a dangerous player he can be.
Delhi are top of the table and have been the success of the tournament. Their bowling attack still looks like their strength, but this is a batting line-up that packs a punch. Sehwag is a presence and Warner scored the team’s second century of the tournament. Both he and Pietersen’s tons have been notable for their absolute dominance.
For Warner this innings should have been a big confidence booster and it looks like he might just be getting into form at the perfect time for the Daredevils.
well unfortunately in the most important match, delhi could not put its act together
