The Chennai Super Kings came oh so close to a third consecutive Indian Premier League title. The two time champions had to battle very hard to get into the final at all after a slice of last day luck allowed them to get there in the first place.
The Super Kings only made it into the playoffs because of a last day batting collapse by the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who squandered a glorious opportunity to beat the Deccan Chargers and claim that place.
Chennai then had to get…Continue
The Kolkata Knight Riders will meet the Chennai Super Kings in the final of the Indian Premier League on Sunday evening. The Knight Riders are in the final after finishing second in the league and beating the Delhi Daredevils in the first qualifier. The Super Kings path has been far less secure, but they still have an amazing opportunity to secure a third straight IPL title. They relied on the Royal Challengers Bangalore coughing up a great last day opportunity to even make the playoffs.…Continue

Earlier Sehwag won the toss and decided to field. Also delhi…Continue
After having topped the league stages, Delhi performed poorly in the first qualifying match. Its batmen and bowlers failed when Gambhir men pulled the match away from Sehwag Men in Pune. But since they were league performers they have another chance to make it to the finals. But this match is not going to be easy for the visitors. Defending champions came up with a good performance in last match to outplay Mumbai. On top of that Chennai Super Kings will be favorites for the…Continue

Arguably the two biggest name teams in the Indian Premier League will face each other today in the eliminator. The Kolkata Knight Riders are in the final after beating the Delhi Daredevils. The Daredevils will face the winner of today’s tie between the Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians.
These two teams include some of India’s and the IPL’s biggest stars with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Lasith Malinga, MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina lining up on different sides. Neither team has…Continue
This is it for the Kings Punjab XI. Match 66 will be the make or break of their season as they travel to face the Chennai Super Kings. Defeat will mean that the team from Mohali are unable to grab a playoff spot, while a victory will ensure that it comes down to a last game finish. It won’t be easy as they take on a Super Kings team that has won its last three games and seems to be charging towards a playoff place after an inconsistent start. The importance of this game cannot be…Continue
It’s hard to gauge how good or bad the total posted by the Chennai Super Kings against the Kolkata Knight Riders is. The first impression is that 140 will not be a high enough score to cause any serious concern to Gautum Gambhir and his strong batting line-up, but the pitch demonstrated more than its fair share of life and if the likes of Albie Morkel can get into a good spell, then the Super Kings might have the bowling to cause some trouble.
The innings itself was brilliantly…Continue
The Chennai Super Kings host the Kolkata Knight Riders in a crucial game between two expensive teams on Monday night. The Knight Riders have been one of the Indian Premier League’s biggest under-achievers over the previous four competitions, but this season under Gautum Gambhir, it really looks like they are coming together,
Gambhir has been in stunning form and his batting form has really lifted the rest of the team with other overseas players Brendan McCullum and Jacques Kallis…Continue
This blog post will break down my opinions on each team and how they have performed in the Indian Premier League 2012 so far. It has been a great competition with lots of close, entertaining games and as a cricket fan I have loved every minute of it. The standings are starting to take shape, though things remain ridiculously tight at this stage.
Delhi Daredevils: P 7 - 10 points
Delhi has emerged victorious in five of their seven games and lead the league as we near the…Continue

After another slow start, which looked like it would potentially de-rail another game for the Kings Punjab XI, the team from Mohali managed to post a very competitive 163-6 for their total. Azhar Mahmood was the late innings hero for Punjab smashing 33 off of just 14 balls. He hit two sixes and three fours in the innings and he took what looked like potentially becoming a below par total and made it into a very good one.
Team captain, coach, opening batsman and wicket keeper Adam…

Kings Punjab XI and Bangalore Royal Challengers meet in what could be a decisive clash on Friday evening. Both teams have two wins in five games so far this season. While we are still in the first half of the competition, a game like this cannot be under-estimated from a momentum perspective. It could be vital as we head towards the halfway mark. A loss here could seriously damage both of these teams’ aspirations and hopes to win a semi-final place at the end of the season.
Kings Punjab XI had to battle to 134-9 against the Kolkata Knight Riders. West Indian spinner Sunil Narine took five wickets as the Knight Riders slow turning wicket once again lived up to its reputation. However, it will be another tough chase for Kolkata, who will have to bat against a bowling attack that includes Piyush Chawla, Sharma, Praveen Kumar and Dimitri Mascarhenas. Kings Punjab XI’s bowling should be suited on this wicket, but Kolkata has some big hitters, who could well be the…Continue
